Jasmine and Massimo’s engagement photo shoot started off slowly, bult up and culminated into a great day with loads of laughs, memorable “Kodak moments”, and ultimately great photographs, unmistakably very New Yorker photographs.
A little bit of overcast helped the colors pop, without sacrificing the image quality. These are our favorite conditions to shoot photos – daylight with some overcast, perfect 70 degree temperature with light breeze coming from the river… ahh, the photographers’ dream.
South Street Seaport
is one of Manhattan’s historic districts that besides being interesting and entertaining actually looks great on camera! It features some of the oldest architecture in downtown Manhattan, and according to
Wikipedia includes the largest concentration of restored early 19th-century commercial buildings in the city – renovated original mercantile buildings, renovated sailing ships, the former Fulton Fish Market, and modern tourist malls featuring food, shopping and nightlife, with a view of the Brooklyn Bridge. In other words it’s a gem of a place for engagement photography, wedding photoss, or any other bridal related photo sessions.
Jasmine and Massimo turned out to be very playful and funny, and most importantly willing to go an extra mile. Like renting a bicycle for a few minutes from a nearby rental shop for the sake of great photographs.
Renting bikes in New York City is a great idea for engagement session photography. One of the best props we had to work with, versatile and elegant.
A quick posed portret between the rides, this couple was really natural, so there was no much need for thorough direction.
Fantastic color coordination and very bold and bright color statement – we wish all our brides and grooms were just as brave.
A quick stopover at the wonderful
Acqua Restaurant for some coffee. It really pays to walk around cafe-lined Front Street and Water Street to find cute shooting locations.
The final few shots just outside of the
Sequoia Restaurant, and with a view of the largest privately owned fleet of historic ships in the country that include a tugboat, a couple of schooners, a four-masted barque, and a fully-rigged cargo ship.
