Russian Engagement in West Village

One of our favorite ways to spend a beautiful spring day in NYC is to do an engagement photo shoot with a cute couple. We met at the famous Gansevoort Hotel in the Meatpacking district, and ventured off into the sleepy and colorful West Village, in our opinion one of the cutest areas in the city.

One can really create a feeling of solitude in the photographs as the car and human traffic is not so bad on any given Sunday morning in this area. There’s also plenty of shade under many awnings that line the streets, in case if the sun is too bright for a shoot.

The romantic streets of the West Village in New York city are made for these type of photographs. Lined with trees, colorful buildings, interesting-looking people, and cute cafes, this is one of our favorite NY neighborhoods to shoot pre-wedding or engagements photos in.

New York Engagement Video

This is the video where unique idea meets skilled cinematography. What makes this engagement video particularly lovely is of course the couple who are not afraid to look silly and were subjected to a full day of videotaping all around Manhattan.

Shelley & David, Australians in NY

When we first received an email from down-under we were worried that an open-air photo shoot in New York at the end of November would be risky to say the least – grey, overcast sky and chilly temperatures in the late fall in Manhattan are very problematic for good quality outdoors photography. We got lucky twice. First, even though the day turned out to be chilly and overcast, the sun made frequent appearances, lighting our clients Shelley and David just when we need it. Secondly, our clients were tough, and braved the chill with Herculean courage.

On the day of the shoot after we have met Shelley and David at their suite at the Waldorf-Astoria we headed straight to the NY City clerk’s office, where dozens of couples were awaiting their turn to be wed. After a brief ceremony in a pastel-colored room we cabbed to the Washington Square Park for a few key photographs, and then moved on to New York’s Central Park.

We spent some time trekking the park’s alleys and trails, climbed some boulders and made the bride and groom play with foliage, ending our fun photo session at the Bethesda fountain, just moments before sending Shelley & David to their celebratory dinner at the Boathouse Restaurant.
